$200 to fix it and totaled? The fix has to be worth more then the truck and blue book on these trucks even in poor condition is more then $200.

Perfect example of do not take the insurance companies first quote as I said earlier. Threaten to take them to court or have your own insurance company cover it. Because if they do then it will be your ins company taking the DUI's insurance company to court.

either you are not showing all the damage or you need to take it to another body shop...nice to give friends business, but if he doesn't want to fix that, IMO he needs another line of work.
cosmetic stuff, fix the suspension and alignment...
that truck around Portland would bring $3K even with the damage...a 4 cyl 3rd gen brings a premium around here...

hmm... if he can't find the door with the vent window, can the regular ones be converted over as long as he swap the parts over?

just a thought

Saw this one today,... got me thinking that if I can't get my 93 fixed, this might work? Insurance would have to give me a nice pay out though.

Toyota Pickup 4x4 Auto 1990 ONLY 56K original milage

1990 Toyota Pickup pick up
Original mileage is 56,950
A/C like ice

4x4
Automatic
Extra Cab
V6

CD player
Sattelite Radio
clean title carfax report.
Red and grey inside
I bought it from my old friend I drove it to Washington it was like a dream.
It is like a luxury car but also a 4x4 monster
Brand new All terrain tires and brakes, it is just maintained
There are a couple small rust on door and back fender and a couple dents but certainly not a big deal.
I wanted to make it my hunting truck adding some extras but i changed my mine. I will go to oversea for a while.
I believe that it is the lowest miles Toyota pickup in the USA.
it is a great project truck that can serve years and years.
You can sell it for the same price after 5 years. These are RARE trucks and not like funny Tacoma's.
These are %100 Japan.

I think it's the 56K that is the 'rare' deal here,...

now that I would agree with. But it's still a 3.0 with an auto. Get the vin and run it to see if its covered under the headgasket recall. But don't tell the owner the real reason why you want the vin.

Oh he's definitely into making money, but he was trying to be honest with me once the adjuster arrives in a day or so. I am finding out how this insurance works though. 80% of the market value. Went to Kelley BB,... 1993 ExtCab Delux 22RE 175K Excellent condition,...$4,080.

Tried to show everything I could see from my inexperienced eye in the pics,...

you might want to line up another body shop just in case you don't like the guys estimate. Insurance adjusters are idiots and they don't care if your truck is fixed or not, remember that when he gives a high estimate on repair cost. Most of these insurance adjusters have never even worked in a body shop and I don't see how they can possibly be qualified to give a repair estimate. lol.

oh and why was the truck having problems going onto the rollback truck?

NOVA is a very weird area to live in,... too many rich people around here with important jobs (I guess) and German luxuary cars. They have the affordability and means to spend money at the drop of a hat without thinking about it. I bought the truck so as to avoid additional expenditures,... people don't get that point around here. Reliability can be re-purchased with a new vehicle by them,...something I can't afford.

Homer-T Towing dude said that it kept pulling right and wouldn't straighten up on its own, when he rolled it back up on his truck. He kept having to turn the steering wheel and adjusted something under the dash to free it up,... that's probably when he snapped the ER brake,... what a freakin bonehead.

I take it that the 5 speed is going to be more desirable in the V6?,... I knew about the head gasket issue though. Not trying to

Something like that,... it was 1:30am and I was running barefoot down the street after him. Registration said 4dr sedan and that's what the police gave me.

Personally I would prefer the 5sp in anything 3.0 or 22r or 3.4 etc etc. Very little to go wrong in them, and if your mechanically inclined clutches are simple and inexpensive. Automatics are a little pricey to fix and not your everyday back yard mechanic like myself can just tear apart on when the clutches go etc etc. Although a torque converter is very rare to go out. At least I haven't seen one.
