The rear wiper in my '88 4Runner has developed a problem that I have been unable to resolve. I have a choice--it either wipes rear window but will not return to cradle on rear of roof OR it won't wipe widow, but does return to roof cradle. What I've done for now is adjust it to clean the window, and after I turn it off it stops in up position, but on window. I quickly turn it on and off again and it pops up into the cradle.
If anyone has experienced a similar problem and repaired it please share your solution. Thanks

 

Mine does it too. I fixed it for a while by putting a slight twist in the wiper arm so the nubbin on the arm points more vertical.
My next attempt is going to be grinding the stop on the shell a bit so the wiper has a smoother angle to ride up.
