ok so i had the typical rear end sag in my 86 runner. i bought new leaf springs and put the ball joint spacers in the front add a leaf in the rear and pro comp shocks all around but the front wheel wells have 9.5 inches from top of the tire to wheel well and 6.5 in the rear. why is the front still 3" higher then the rear. and how can i resolve this issue

 

Your leafs are probably shot and the aal might not enough be doing anything?

first off the rear fenders are cut 2 inches lower. your rear tires might be worn moer than the front. the AAL probably didnt give you all the lfit it was supposed to because of your old worn out springs, but hey, you might know some of this if you tried searching...

 

did you replace your leaf springs with factory leaf springs? cause if you did you would have fixed the sag but just brought it back up to the stock height. i would also recommend the zuk mod

 

i dont have worn out springs i put new ones on, but hey, you have known this if you tried reading my post. im looking for help not an inter net tuff guy you ass.

 

yeah i did buy stock springs, but i thought the add a leaf would help lift it, but i will probably put 2.5" extended shackles on it to help level it out some. thank you for your help.

did you try reading the rest of my post? i gave you two more possibilites. i AM helping you. there are tons of threads on this very forum about rear end sag on these 4runners and probably thousands all over the web, google is your best friend. another thing could be that your torsions are cranked up and instead of the rear sagging the front is just sitting too high. pics would be very helpful. does it look like its sitting level? you should measure from the rim to the fender not from the tire.

 

i will get pics uploaded as soon as i can. i will also take the front and rear measurements from the rim in the morning. please bear with me though i dont have a lot of time to google things right now i have a three day old baby that is eating up most of my time.

There's your problem. Depending on what size BJ Spacers you put in 1.5"s or 2", either way really, will LIFT the front end. The new springs in the rear brought the rig up to stock height, even with an AAL you aren't really going to gain anything except load capacity, reduced squat, and slow down the eventual sag.

Since your front end is now higher than stock, t-bars don't loose a whole lot over time, you could add height in the back with a ZUK set-up, longer shackles, blocks, etc. designed to LIFT the rear (not return it to stock).






ps not trying to sound like a d!ck.

 

Just lower your torsion bars to match it with the rear. Or get a little longer shackle. And ill repeat it, the rear fenders are cut 2" inches lower.

ok so i measured from top of the rim to bottom of the wheel wells and got 15" in the front and 13" and 12.5 " in the rear. not sure why the .5" inch difference but it seems to be right on with the 2" from front to rear that you mentioned of. i still think im gonna put shackles on though.

 

and the pics will have to wait a little dropping it off to get 4.88's put in front and rear so i wont be a snail pushing 32's.

 

if your rear end sags chalk it up to old age

 

And what do you chalk it up to when one is guilty of bumping up a 3 year old post?
