Question rear end question

i just got my rear end resealed. I was woundering, people go years without worrying about the rearend. If it starts leaking and gets low, how can you spot it and save the rear end before it runs out of fluid? I know when your rear end runs competely out it burns up within a couple of blocks. I went under my trucks for some reason and noticed the pinon seal was leaking. I was just B woundering for future refrence. And also do check for leaks when i check fliuds Any pointers?

The factory rear in my runner made noise, a mild hum when I was accelerating. I noticed the pinion leak when I smelled burned oil. It was the pinion seal slinging juice on the exhaust.

Now once a month I check all the fluids. I also check everything an hour before I go wheeling. It's a good practice and I recommend it.
