Question Rear axle woes - can't find one

Any tips for finding a passenger rear axle shaft for a 1995 4x4 4Runner with 4-wheel ABS and 4.88 ratio?

My son needs this part and has limited funds, hoping to avoid buying new from the dealer. None of the local junkyards have one, including the you-pull places. Dealer cost is probably half the value of the vehicle.

Been researching. I'm pretty sure the part number I'm looking for is 4231135200.

The ABS is what makes it hard to find.

Have you tried Car-part.com ??

They have surprised me a few times

That looks like the right part number. The non-ABS is a 4231135190.

I don't know if there's an actual difference in the axle between the ABS version and the non-ABS, or if the ABS version is just a standard axle with the ABS rotor installed. The FSM shows a procedure for removing the ABS rotor and pressing on a new one as a part of axle service. Maybe you could use a non-ABS axle, buy a new ABS rotor, and install it and be good to go.

Don't know how you'd know for sure, though, without trying it.
