REAR Axle swap

Ok. After searching for days I finally gave in to ask this question. I have a 91 4runner V6. I was looking at swapping a 96+ 4runner axle into my 4runner so I wouldn't have to tear the 3rd member apart. Does anyone know if this swap will work? Looking at the FSMs it looks like the shock mounting might not match up. Also I know I'd have to find one with the same gear ratio and elocker. Thanks for any help or thoughts.

Nothing is the same between the 2nd and 3rd gen 4runner rear axles. You could swap them over only with some mount modifications, but it will require more welding and messing around than its really worth, IMHO.

Thanks for the info. Yeah maybe I'll just go that route. Or just pick up a lunchbox locker.

Selectable is worth the extra effort, and it's really not that hard.
