Re manufactured vs. Rebuilt 22re

So i have a 87 22re with 240k miles on it and a crack in the block and I'm going to have a shop swap it. It'll be about $1000 in labor but I'm mixed up on the difference between re manufactured and a rebuilt engine and which one would be more worth the money. Also what companies do better jobs and such. I'm in the Atlanta area, any advice would be appreciated.

^From the link:

The need of major engine repair often leaves the owner on a crotch
This has yet to happen to me. . .

That happens to me sometimes several times a day if not an hour .
A crotch is a fork in the road .

One must really be careful and read the fine print from any company one might think of buying a engine from.

I have seen and heard rebuilt and remanufactured used interchangably far to often unless it is in print.

A "remanufactured engine" IS a rebuilt engine.

If you had the time and/or expertise, I'd vote to build it yourself with top-quality parts.

I agree, if you have the time rebuild it yourself. You will learn alot about your engine.

Re-man, everything but the block is new. Long block anyway. Re-built is bs and can mean anything.
