Even if you had add, no it wouldn't lock the front end in while in 2wd.

You won't know it's there in 2WD

It'll cause your engine to blow up, your transmission to grenade, your passengers seats to burn, and all 5 tires go flat.

I think the ratcheting sound you hear is from bad bearings...You'll have to figure out which side is bad. It could be from CV joint. The ADD only disconnect one side of your hub....I think.
