Even if you had add, no it wouldn't lock the front end in while in 2wd.

You won't know it's there in 2WD

I think the ratcheting sound you hear is from bad bearings...You'll have to figure out which side is bad. It could be from CV joint. The ADD only disconnect one side of your hub....I think.
