Is there a ground near the fuel pump?

 

Pull your passenger side rear bottom seat up into the folded position. Grab the carpet that is underneath it, and pull it up from the rear where the seat was. You will now see an access panel with 3 screws in it. Remove the three screws, and you can now see the top of the fuel tank and the fuel pump assembly. Look there for corrosion, etc.

 

Look in the FSM Electrical section for this ground location and wiring to check.

The connector inside the access panel underneath the rear passenger side seat, has zero corrosion. In fact it looks recently new. When you say "left kick panel" do you mean by the fuse box on the driver side? The FSM says to see page 34, but the link is broken.

You're good with the FSM. I had found it. It's kinda a funky ground point in the first place. No corrosion, but the point just below it, where the fuel pump grounds has corrosion on it. I had a leaking windshield, and water was getting in that area. I really hope this is it. thank you.

So I cleaned up that ground point. The response actually seemed to improve from that (placebo effect?) But the under laying problem was still there. So I got to thinking, I'm losing fuel pressure, and the vacuum line going to the FPR helps assits the fuel pump to over come the spring pressure. Maybe the spring is weak, and having the vacuum is relieving the pressure too much since it's a weak spring? So I disconneced the line and plugged it. Problem seems to have gone away. So I need a FPR. Can I run it without that line for the time being?

It was the TPS. It was bad from the moment I bought it I guess. It tested fine, and adjusted correctly. But, it had a mulfunction in it when it got hot. Eventually it failed, and triggered the CEL. Since I bought it three months ago I got a replacement free of charge. Runs great now.
