So any parts store will carry the green o ring kit?I'm totally clueless when it comes to a/c. I don't know what is what and where all of the o rings even go. Maybe I should just grab a regular O ring kit and have it refilled with freeze 12?? I don't know, I'm confused....

The O-rings come in a kit, when you do the change over, you need to replace the o-rings because the 134 will blow past the old black rubber ones.I think I got mine from nappa. There is also a valve you put in the high pressure line when you do the change over, the will bring the temp down another 10 degrees or so.I cant rember the name of it,but wiil find out tomarrow. It looke like a halogen lamp bulb.

Awesome! Let me know about that valve iselloil!! I need to quit procrastinating and get this done right. It's easy to go to a shop and pay, but it's cheaper not to. I have NO shortage of cash flow, but I just hate getting ed over at a shop when the job is pretty simple.

He only had to throw a couple cans in over the summer. Oh, and by the way 854X4, the whole MSDS book is a hunk of SH!+!! It's all EPA California liberal B/S. Yes I know its bs you would probaly have to suck in a whole can before it did any damage just thought people would get a kick out of it. Heres the driveway retrofit way. Buy retrofit kit, gauge set, vacuum pump or venturi vacuum from harbor freight. Have system evacuated, replace o-rings on all connections you take loose or look like they could be leaking, replace expansion valve (you can take or leave this step), Flush system this requires a flush gun and solvent or compressed flush solvent found at some parts stores ( you can also take or leave this step) , Replace reciever drier ( make sure you do this last so it dosent collect moister inside it), Pull vacuum ( if you flush the system you will have to pull vacuum for longer), Charge system with oil and freon to 80% or the R-12 capacity. Hope this helps.

The part I was thinking about is the orifice tube. There is on that is made just for the coversion, and this will bring the temp down another 10 degrees.

actually there are two different condensers for the 4runner. got the big one on my runner.
one is like the truck's and the other has an additional small array of tubes and fins, about 4" tall and the same width as the condenser, mounted flush to the top and ahead of the main condenser. it's called a 'precooler' or 'supercool' or similar name by different vendors.

man the search key is awsome!!! all the shops ive been talking to are quoting me $170-180 to do a "retrofit". which all they are ging to do is pull a vacuum and put in the r-134. i want it done right, which in my eyes is to change the epansion valve, dryer and put the solvent through it. then charge it. whats wrong with things done properly?
