Question about temp guage

did a few easy tests. disconnected the gauge sender connector, and the gauge went from pegged to off. inserted a test light at the harness connector, and attched the test light clip to ground, and gauge slowly rose to just under half and held steady. used multi-meter to verify it had battery voltage at connector. replugged the harness to the sender, and gauge immediately pegged.

appears to be a failed sender.
