Pulling Distributor on 3VZE......

Pulling Distributor on 3VZE......
I've noticed oil under the bottom of dist. cap and drips on the generator below, I'm assuming its the dist. o ring is leaking. Do I need to remove the air filter mech. to have room to pull the dist?....thanks
