Proof that I suck: 95 4Runner Performance

Many are familiar with the trails and tribulations of the mighty 3.0 I will let the jokes be part of the library, but I think that I may be on to something. Knowing that engines needed air, fuel and spark, I started working on making this anemic thing breath easier.

So, I picked up this gigantic K&N filter and filter condom. My old one was really dirty, small and just tired out after being re-oiled ad nauseum. After installing it this afternoon, I drove back from Denver.

All I can say is WOW! I would estimate between 50 and 60 HP over stock. The truck has a whole new life. Take a look.

Seriously, I just got the big K&N today, really did liven things up.

The truck has been swapped for a little more than 2 years and 45k miles.

Pics? I will post pics when it is all done. The complete truck is pretty much done, beyond looking at it and saying, wow neat.

No bites on that other thing by the filter?

Do you mean the "filter" that filters a filter?

What is the part number of that monster? I might have to trim down my intake to fit that, my short filter almost hits my washer bottle.

Nice PSC resivor, have you used it yet? My pump started bitchin for the first time. Might be time to call PSC

1. You put 45k miles on your 3.4L in two years?!?!?

2. It's been 2 years since you did it?!?

Yeah, I have "used" it. It is all plumbed for the assist. The stock pump usually gets pissed on these with larger tires, and PSC makes bomber power steering stuff, the choice was easy.

The was the only sort of easy place to put the reservoir. It is uphill of the pump, but it could be better. Probably install a cooler too just to be safe, I am fond of steering.

Yes, summer of 2004. The truck has been to Arizona twice, Moab 4 or so times, then 3 or four trips between Wiscosin and CO before I moved. It has also sat for almost a year. Pretty amazing.

I had to trim the intake. That thing is freaking huge.

In the pic is the filter, the filter filter, and the magic Kool-Aid cup.
