Power Window Problem

A new power window motor for my 88 runner is $525 and it has to be brought in from California; a used motor is $150 plus shipping from Ontario so my the time it's all said and done it'll be ~ $200. So I'm hoping that some may enlighten me and save me some doe...

Here is the scoop: I bought the truck the power windows worked, well I might add. Then one day the driver window stopped working completely in the up position (better then the down position). The passenger window works. How can I determine that it's the motor that's stopped working versus my door switch? Is there a separate fuse for the driver door and passenger door? if so where is the fuse box on the 1st gens? (it's a 3VZ engine). Thanks.

before you get too involved, take the master control set off the armrest and remove each switch and clean them. it may take a bit of time but it costs nothing compared to the prices you have posted.

a couple of mine had so much crap inside, im surprised they even worked. once i took them apart, cleaned and lubed them, things are good in the yota universe once more.

That's the first thing I did; it didn't help.

run a power wire directly to the window motor
