Power Mirrors are not working

My power mirrors are not working and the fuse is good. Does the switch go bad very often?

Jjenks0,
Did you ever find out why your mirrors quit working? I have the same problem but can't figure it out.
BTW, which fuse did you find controlled the mirrors? I replaced the switch but that didn't help.
I have a 93 4runner.
Thanks

you may want to check you wires going through the door to the body for breaks.

mirrors

I got every tore apart last night. Door panel took the mirrors apart. Just a hint when taking the door panel off you may think that by taking the screw out of the door handle cavity it will pull off but you must slide the door handle assembly towards the front of the vehicle as it has hooks.

Any way by putting using a test light I grounded the clip on the door hinge roll pin and touched the pointed end to various connections on the back side of the switch. I had power on and was holding down on the switch in vaious positions. I did get the motors to spin. I am thinking that it may be a ground wire or something. The schemtics I have in my haynes does not show power mirrors. I hope this weekend to trace the wires and see if I can find a broken one.

My power mirror wires were cut in half by the small piece of metal that slides into the door between the two hinges and keeps the door from "over-opening" (hope that's clear). The wires were loose inside the door, and apparently got snipped by that sliding piece.

Also, for my power locks, I had a wire that broke inside the rubber hose section where the wires go from the door to the body (like leebee said). Only the wire itself was broken... the wire insulation was still intact, which made it really hard to find the problem. That problem was intermittent... every once in a while, I would open the passenger door, and when I got it halfway open, I'd hear all the door locks click to the open position. It got really annoying until I took the time to tear it apart and track down the problem.
