Speak of the devil(so to speak, lol) ....There is Diablo, Ty^^ The one with the truck like yours! lol
Diablo, ... what are you asking,....the portion of the shaft that's showing? Or, the grease all over the body? The grease is usually due to overgreased u-joints, but every one I've had has a lil 'grease trail' from after I hit the zurk's.
If it's a question of the shaft protruding, .....that's happens when you lift the rig and create a longer shaft when you increase the angle. But yours is stock, right? That's just the (not sure what it's called)>>> ???>>>> Intermediate shaft" ? When you wheel, it will slide in and out and probably get 'washed' by the outer sleeve. Were you on an odd hill when you took this pic?(that wouldn't necessarily change things if you weren't, just asking)

About the shaft, i was on a hill, but it was a steady hill. No changes in angle at all. So, i assume this is normal? Do i need to check to see if the guy put a lift on it at one point?
Thanks Chef!

and diablo, naaa, i wouldnt worry about it. (like chef said) when you over grease the joints, some grease potrudes through, and thats just what happens when centrifcal force meets a greasy shaft spinning @ 60mph.

Didn't really tow it to the lake with the 4runner...did drive 10 miles though over some hilly terrain just to see if it could...and it can for the most part... but a boat ramp would be interesting...4 lo would do it hopefully hahaha. Dont know how much the boat weighs but its an 1985 20' Rienell with a "cuddy" cabin powered by a good ole chevy 350
