Sure you can replace it if you want to (I'll let you
) It is just held on with plastic clips/plugs. You will probably break at least a few of them getting them out but you should be able to buy new ones at the dealer. I have my old one in the storage shed, no room under the hood for it any more. I don't even notice that its missing, the Tacomas don't even come with one. Not sure what good it does.

It was there mostly to deaden noise and partially [at least] to stop the engine heat from cooking the paint off the hood. So far as my research goes it was only put on DLX and SR5 models the base vehicles did without...
There are other options in lue of the factory liner such as that silver foil faced rubber sound deadening product you get at stereo shops [can't think of the name just now] and I think one member here sprayed rhino liner on the bottom of his hood but don't quote me on that...

Insulator pad 90-95 $229.98(list) $159.00(price)
Retainer clip 90-95 $1.06(list) $0.74(price)
All you haters, for some of us, looking nice WHILE performing well is important. If my liner fell apart, i would look to replace it as well. $160 now saves you $1000 in paint later.
