Possible head gasket problem?

Ive already posted and got some interesting ideas, and I just want to see if anyone else has other ideas or whatever. The truck is an 89' 22re with 200k mostly stock without any major engine work. I'm doing the chain and pumps next week, but I don't wanna pull the head if i don't have too... Here whats going on.. The truck starts and runs fine when its cold, but it will shake and stumble when you restart after about 10 minutes, until you get on the gas, at which point it clears out and idles fine.... The compression is good between 150-160 on all, and I have no fluid mixing at all...I also don't have the "poof" of white smoke that usually accompanies antifreeze combustion.... The exhaust does smell a little different though, when the truck is stumbling after the hot start, so I don't know what else would make the exhaust smell funny? Its not the flooding smell, and there's really no smoke.... I don't wanna open a can of worms with the head, if its OK.....Since I can't pinpoint what else is wrong, I can't help to think its a leaking head??? Help me guys...

wild guess would be a lazy o2 sensor. If you have concerns over the head gasket you can pull the spark plugs and inspect them. A cylinder thats burning coolant will have a very clean(like new) spark plug. YOu can also buy a comubustion tester from napa, which will show if there are any combustion gasses mixed with the antifreeze.

Possible head gasket..

My plugs are "ash fowled" A whitish brown crust.... Ive been told it may be from leaky valves burning oil? But as I said, there's no real smoke.. Just the stumble and low idle, on a hot start.. I get the same stumble, when the A/C is on.... Its not a life changing problem, but its just very annoying and I want it fixed..... Any other Ideas?

Hot start mystery..???

No, the oil is clean, the antifreeze is clean, compression is fine and I have normal power and nothing else is wrong except the hot start stumbling and the stumbling when the A/C is on...
