so my axle and/or frontal components are making a popping sound when i turn the wheel in either direction. it will make one pop if and when i turn the wheel in one direction,and then the same sound the other direction. (it makes the sound at about a quarter turn not full lock.) and if i rock the sterring back and forth it will make pop,pop,pop,pop, sounds.

i have done a solid axle within the last 1500 mile and the sound didnt begin until about 500 miles ago. i have tried tightening the u bolts, hanger and shackle bolts high steer arms lower trunion caps, castle nuts on all steering components, and shock mount bolts.

the only thing i can think of, is it is in the knuckle region maybe the spindle nuts broke in or work loose a little and now the pre load is off. suggestions?

i may be over complicating the sound but deatails help. thanks all.

 

have someone turn the wheel for u so u can climb under and look for the item thats popping..

 

tried that... tthe only thing i noticed was the steering stabalizer bushing moved with the sound. like a jolt almost. but i removed it and it does the same. now that i think of it the sound happens when i hit bumps too., which is why i tightened up the suspension
