Pinion length difference

Pinion length difference
I have a 89 4cyl 3rd member. I bought a new ring and pinion 4.11 to replace the old 4.10s.
The new pinion gear is shorter. Hopefully it will still work with enough washers. Is this a normal occurrence?

Can't tell from your pic, sorry but the pic quality socks and you chopped off the top
check Zuk's site gearinstalls.com and you will probably find your answer
nice job shearing ever tooth off the old pinion, usually just chip them
