Hey great truck man! I just bought one too, 91 auto 3.0l. I wanted to ask a lot of the same questions, thanks for posting, I believe I found a jem as well, 264,000km. I got the 'AMA' inspection done, had to adjust the PBrake, Supposed to change the muffler but it's in great shape, and do the front pads. Changed the plugs to bosch iridium, and new pads so far. interior is in beautiful shape, will have to do the CV's but it looks like that's not to bad of a job. Should be able to do it all myself with a little help from y'all. Can't wait to get er' finished.

 

Re: the steering wheel vibration, Toyota had a recall about 5 years ago on some of the 2nd gen 4runners for a steering relay rod. Might be worth checking the VIN at your local Toyota dealer to see if that's still outstanding on this vehicle.
