PCV valve mod

I'm looking to do the PCV valve mod, but every thread links to "Steve's PCV valve mod" thread and the link to the pic is dead. Anyone done this on the 3VZE that can take a pic for me?

Thanks!
Trevor

What possible mods can you do with a PCV valve? It seems pretty perfected to me.

I didn't know there was a PCV mod, but I'd be very interested to see what it is - changing that thing on the 3.0 sucks!

I thought it was more like a mod to basically relocate it - so its not so difficult to replace.

the only PCV valve mod I've ever seen was the oil catch-can craze that sweeped through here about 6 months back... haven't heard much about it since, lol

That was what I gathered, and I'm all for making parts easy to replace.

If you search "Steve's PCV valve mod" it gives a vague description, but leaves the bulk of the explanation through photo, which no longer exists... You can see the dilemma... But any information--like pictures--would be awesome.

That is exactly what the mod was. The guy inserted a right angle fitting into the PCV grommet, then a short length of hose, and then put the PCV valve in the hose with a hose clamp. The valve was then out from under the plenum and you could service it in about 2 minutes.

But, all I did was bookmark the same page. I tried to do this once, when I was adjusting the valves, but could not find a right angle fitting that would work for me in the PCV grommet.

Now that is more like it! Thank you OutlawMike, that fills in the details. Good thing I have to replace my valve cover gaskets next week, I won't feel bad tearing off the intake plenum just to do this. Might as well take off the EGR while I'm at it...

I put in a new valve and grommet when I do the timing belt--5 years or so. It's a good interval to replace the valve cover gaskets and check valve clearances so the plenum is coming off anyway. This makes getting to the upper idler pulley much easier also. I've never had a problem with the PCV with a 5-year change interval.

geez... with a set of long 90* angle needle nose pliers, that pcv comes out in about 3min... getting the new one is a bit tougher... maybe takes 5min.

22RE PCV Valve Mod

This one looks pretty cool. Not sure where to find it though. Maybe custom fabricated. I would have personally put a clamp on the end of the hose but perhaps the tension is enough.. Looks like it would be much easier to switch out.

Wasn't the OP asking about the mod for a 3VZE?
