Oil Pan swap? Another option?

Guys.
I am in the middle of pulling my tranny to install a new clutch and throw out bearing. I also have a leaking oil pan and asked how to go about removing it in another thread a few weeks ago. I got two answers from that thread but is there a third option? My question is can i remove the pan and change it out when i have the tranny out? It certainly looks like i will be able to.
Thanks lads.

I think you'll run across two problems- you'll need to support the engine from the top, say a board across the top holding the rear of the engine up with a chain or something, then you can lower the front axle to give you some clearance to get the pan out. Otherwise you'll have a jack or stand under the rear of the engine which will make pulling the pan difficult.

Without a lift or really high jackstands - the pan wont come off of an IFS truck without removing the axle.

I tried lowering the axle and leaving the half shafts attached - no luck.
Maybe if I had used really tall stands or something - but in my case I gave up after 2+ hours of cursing and unbolted the center axle from the axles shafts (CVs).

The pan hangs up on the oil pickup....

Dont forget new FIPG.

Oh yeah - if the tranny is out - the engine will "flop" on the motor mounts - watch out for a fan smashing the rad.....

Thanks boys.
I think i'am just going to take the small skid plate off,, clean up the bottom of the pan and bronze it. I'll see how long that gets me. $205 for a new pan or a used 22re for $200
