Oil pan installation success

22re 1991 IFS. No lifts.

It's still a pain, but I was able to put the FIPG gasket maker on the oil pan while it was on the bench, and still had plenty of room to thread the pan onto the block without getting goo everywhere.

I didn't completely drop the differential. I removed the bolts of the front cross member and the 2 bolts holding the differential to the frame, and then jacking the frame on the driver's side until the front wheel just starts to come off the ground. .

After removing the 4 cross-member bolts and the 2 bolts that connect the differential to the frame, I was left with about 9 inches of space between the CV axle and the bottom of the block.

That's enough to easily get the pan OUT. But not in...not with the fipg gasket goo getting smeared all over.

But If you then raise the frame from under the driver side door, I got another 1 inch of space, for a little more then 10 inches.

And that's enough to put the fipg gasket maker on the oil pan while it's on the bench and then thread the pan from under the driver side door without getting the fipg everywhere.
