oil deflector and gasket

I had the rear bearing go out on my 90, so I decided to replace everything. Got new bearings pressed on, got new inner and outer oil seals. New rear brake components too.
Got everything back together and it seemed to be perfect until I pulled off the drums to double check no leaks and it appears to have a small leak.
The drivers side is bone dry, the passenger has some fluid in the pads on the outer side only. The outer seal doesn't seem to be leaking, and from what I understand its really more of a dust boot than an actual seal.
The inner seems to do all the work.

Here's the theory.
According to the FSM its called the oil deflector and gasket. I did not replace these, and the oil that I'm getting is only on the side that had the bearing go out.
Could the fluid that soaked that gasket be the main source of my worries? If it was drenched and now its working itself back out when I'm driving... Its a really small amount of fluid, and only on the side closest to the gasket.
Does anyone replace these when they do the bearings? They don't seem to do anything..
