For some reason my upper radiator hose has been leaking from both ends on my '87 22r. Directly under the clamps on each side. The hose has no visual leaks (goodyear) or cracks. I've retightened and repositioned the clamps a bunch. It seems like it should seal? During cold start a pretty obvious flow of drops comes out of the front - to radiator - connection and drips down the side of the radiator.

I'll pop my hood after driving and notice a few drops out of the other end as well.

Just replaced HG and performed a chemical flush about two weeks ago. Radiator/everything looked good.

 

Get a new hose and a couple new clamps?

 

Hi, thanks. Yeah, that's a good first step. It's just odd that this truck always seems to have a leak. First another hose, than the head gasket. Then I throw all new seals on everything and the upper hose starts leaking from its connection points. I'm wondering if I have a pressure issue.

Also, I'm out in the middle of nowhere taking a wilderness emt course. Finding a new hose and clamps is going to prove tough.

Anyone know a great site for finding oem upper rad hoses and delivering them to mountain tops?

Make sure the tubing is clean of any old rubber, and no scratch or gouges running lengthwise. Rub out any long or deep scratchs or gouges with a fine grit sand paper, and only go across the scratch, eg around the tubes, not down it's length. If you can't get a proper tighten with the normal or cheap clamps spend extra for something abit more robust, similar to the ones on the intake, I forget what they are called.
