o2 sensor and smoke
I have so many things getting replaced on the truck. I need a new muffler, and while that was being replaced I was also going to replaced the o2 sensors. I was going to wait until I fixed the smoking problem (psiton rings may be the problem) before I replace the muffler and o2 sensor. I was thinking the smoking every start up would prematurely kill the o2 sensors. Is this logical thinking? Or would the smoke not affect the o2 sensors that much?

I dont need the muffler, it's just loud and annoying. It has a cherrybomb on it. it's also cut short and ends at the back of the cab. so if i have the read window open I get a lung full of exhaust.

How many miles can I go on the O2 sensor with the smoke on startup? I am looking at replacing the head entirely, but that's not for a few more months (waiting for summer). I'd like to get a new muffler and o2 sensor out of the way quickly. Should it be fine for 6 months up to a year? Or will the smoke damage it quickly?
