noob question

I did this on accendent. I had to slow down so I put it into 2nd, I wasent going fast enough so the engine was boggin. I took my foot off the clutch while my other foot was still on the gas and it high revs. As I pushed down the clutch I heard a faint noise I'm thinking it was the clutch slipping off the flywheel as I pushed the clutch? Dose anyone know? after that I left it 2nd and let go of the clutch. The truck snatched. Everything is fine but I was woundering if doing that offten would cause damage to anything? I'm a noob but iknow these trucks are well known and can take a beating. Thanks for info

Kinda sounds like you burnt the clutch for a split second.
If you want it to go in first while moving faster then 5mph, just push the clutch in and while holding the stick against first, hold the gas pedal until the stick goes in. the engine (3vze) usually has to be around 1800. If your going faster then 10mph and your on flat ground, might as well keep it in 2nd. The manual says to shift out of first 15mph, then every 10mph from there. I shift when it feels right (2200-2500) lol.
I can shift from 4th to 5th with out the clutch if i want to sometimes, you just sync up the gears.

That's fairly true. I find mine is fully disengaged about 1" from floor. Any higher than that and there's some drag from the clutch but the synchros will usually get the gears spun up and let me drop in without noise if I don't force it.

There is a clutch pedal adjustment you can make that will cause the clutch to disengage sooner. It's basically an adjustment to the clevis and rod that come through the firewall and connect to your clutch pedal. If if you have to firmly press the clutch pedal against the floor in order to make shifts, you may want to research this.
