noise question

test drove a 95 v6 today

please give me your opinions

acceleration was ok, only 150hp motor
handled ok, rode well etc
BUT
two things had me wondering and worrying
1 - there was a ticking noise coming from drivers side of engine bay. not a valve tick, but something moving with the motor. i didnt hear it the other night so i wonder if maybe something got up in there and is getting knocked around

2 - there is a noise coming from the passengers side of car by the firewall.
so here is what happens - give it some throttle and as the rpms fall you can hear a fluttering/gurgling sound, can hear air moving and somehting making a noise with that. not really a vaccuum leak or something like that, but maybe something to do with the EGR system?

having it looked at tomorrow.
hopefully the once over wont cost me anything and it will turn out ok.
we'll see.

didnt overheat, had it running for about 40minutes or so straigh, most of that was parked, and about 5 minutes with teh AC on full blast. I did whatever I could to make it run hot...didnt happen. Got up to a certain mark and just hung there, just under 1/2way. so thats good.

#2, sounds like a possible reed valve

As for #1, if its making a ticking/knocking noise, i would pass on it.

maybe exhaust leak on the driver's side?

i dunno, that's what mine does, but it's a 22re, and if a valve was ticking it would be coming from up top

I'm with DC on the #2 issue... might be the PAIR system.

#1 might be a subtle exhaust leak, so maybe check your torque on the manifold bolts.

the tick could be an exhaust leak?
what was wierd was that i heard it run a few days ago and the noise wasnt there, since then 100 miles have been put on it and now it makes that noise.

the pair system or reed valve - how hard to fix/replace?
does that have to do with the charcoal canister/egr at all? i know of mr2s people just took that off, didnt know if it was the same case with these
