No power to A/C conpressor (update, fixed)

A/C just stopped blowing cold air. The interior blower (heater fan) works fine. When A/C switch is on, the light is also on but no power to comperssor.

I found wire to compressor, unpluged it and checked with voltage meter. No power.

Jumped from battery to compressor and compressor engages.

Any suggestions? Is there a separate fuse for the compressor?

Okay it's fixed, well maybe only temporary.

Months ago with I bought the truck the A/C was working but not blowing cold. I took it to an A/C shop who basically ripped me off, said they filled system with R134 but still not cold. They said they did a pressure test and no leaks, but still not cold and I'm out $200.

So I go to Wal-Mart and buy a $19 can of R134 with the hose and guage. When I put guage on, no pressure. I filled it to 30 lbs as suggested and it worked perfectly.

It has worked perfectly for months now. It's been parked for a month without driving, (vacation). I get back and A/C compressor won't engage. So I post this topic hoping to find an answer.

Anyway I checked everything. Every fuse, took out glovebox and the fuses are all fine. I did NOT check any of the relays, pressure switch or any of that stuff, only fuses.

Everything works except the compressor won't engage. I can even hear the relays kicking in when I push the A/C button.

I know it's electical. WRONG! Since I had ran out of things to try, I thought I will put in some more R134. When I attached the hose and guage, no pressure. Hummm

I had only been filling the system for a few seconds and all of a sudden the compressor kicks in. Pressure switch (wherever it is) was obviously keeping the compressor from engaging for safety reasons.

So there must be a leak somewhere. It's working fine now but I'll search for the leak tomorrow.

Anyway if any of you have this problem, even if you think the system HAS refrigerant, check it anyway. You just never know.

95RUNNER, One other thing I tried and if you try it do so at your own risk....I unpluged the wire coming off the compressor, then jumped it to the positive side of the battery. The compressor would would kick in! That way I knew it wasn't the magnetic disk on the compressor.

sorry, wish I had some more info to offer.
