Exclamation No 4x4

Hey Guys... just registered today and looking for some help... i just picked up an 86' pickup 22re and took it out for its first dry runs and the 4x4 doesnt work. It made a really rough grinding noise then nothin at all... . any ideas of where i should start?

its a noob question but did you have the locking hubs engaded

Sounds to me like hubs, or trying to go into 4low at speed.

I was stopped with the hubs locked and in neutral before engaging the 4x4..... any other possibilities?>
