Newbie with some problems!!!

Hey guys,

Great forum! I'm hoping you can help me though!!

I've trawled the web and I'm still at a loss!!

I have a 91 KZN130, with a 2" body lift 2" monroe suspension lift and sitting on 35x12.5 tyres!

I took it offroading over the weekend and I've developed some issues

I have 2 problems they may be connected, they may not be!!

The front diff is leaking on the drivers side (JDM car), on the left as you look a the car front on. I assume this is just the seal so have ordered a new one.

The second is the more worrying issue!!!

I had a nasty knock/ rattle when going over anything other than perfectly smooth roads. I searched and I got the impression it may be the ARB or droplinks so I removed this and retested.

This has made the problem worse! It's a nasty rattle/ knock that can be felt in the footwell and in the steering wheel.

It litterally feels like something is broken/ loose and rattling about. It happens when going over anything less than perfectly flat tarmac and seems to be less apparent when conering.

I haven't tried it in 4wd due to the diff leaking a lot! but it's definatley doing in 2wd.

On looking and bouncing we have seen that the bush at the top of the shock is moving onnthe drivers side up and down as we bounce but it doesn't on the the other side?

Any ideas on where to start looking??

I think I've located the noise!

The leak and the noise are connected.

If I grab hold and shake the driveshaft it moves and the noise is similar, the the side without the intermediate shaft, shaft from diff to hub.

Now is this going to be expensive or cheap??

A better pic!

I can move the shaft up and down (towards the bonnet), but not side to side (front to back)

Could this cause the noise in 2wd? And the feeling in the wheel?

Just been out and cautiously checked and it makes the same noise going over anything less than dead smooth in 2wd and 4wd

Well it's now in my friends workshop.

It's not looking like it's a bush.

It's unlikely to be the diff as in 4wd (ON GRAVEL) turning in figures of 8's doesn't give any diff like noise.

He's thinking maybe the front driveshaft (Axle to you guys), Shock, or something else! He didn't have time to look yesterday properly.

I'll update when I know more!
