Please first off, i m a newbie idiot and the question i may ask might be pretty stupid, but i do need help.

Just aquire a yota 87 truck 4x4 lifted and on 33's it's got lower gears, what are they; i don't really know. maybe 5.29 idk

I would like to be able to cruise at 65-70 mph. It's carb, 200+ miles on 22r and when i m pedal to the metal it's barely doing 50-55. How can i achieve 65-70 cruising speed?

I was searching through the existing threads, but I don't really know where to look. A fried on mine says www.yotatech.com and that's about all i know for right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I like everything about the truck but i need to be able to get around places, it would be a drag to get to any rubicon or off road place, wouldn't practical at all, need to get there faster, so i can enjoy wheeling.

My 87 22R had no problems getting up to 70-80 MPH but it was stock gearing/suspension on 31x10.5 BFG ATs... mods I did on it over the years were K&N drop in filter, one piece Cat back exhaust and replaceing the head pipe with a flex pipe (no performance gain here just no more split exhaust welds from engine flex)...

 

I forgot to mention that i also have a set of 35 super swampers, the guy at the shop told me that if i slap those on... i should be cruising 70 75 mph... true/false?

 

when you put bigger tires on your spedometer is no longer accurate. the stock tire size on most of these trucks is 225/75/15 which comes out to about 28" or something like that, so with bigger tires you are accually going faster than what your spedometer is telling you.

 

Find out your gear ratio first. Lift one rear tire. Mark it and the driveshaft. Spin the tire 20 times and see how many times the driveshaft turns. Take that amount and divide by 10. Example: If the driveshaft turns 45.6 times. That?s 4.56 gears.

Then you can figure how fast you are actually going

 

what speed do you guys cruise at? again, it looks like i m toping out at 60mph, and no more go...

 

60 by your dash? Or 60 in the real world?

 

I have 33x12.50s and when my speedometer says "55" I'm keeping up with traffic in a 65mph zone. When I do 60mph according to the speedometer, I pass everyone.
