Newbie with a problem

Quick question for anyone in the know, what years were the HG's recalled? I have a 91 also and I registered on the Toyota Owners website. I entered my VIN and it lists a couple small repairs for the truck but no HG job. It also didn't list any recalls either though. I'm curious in case mine ever decides to let loose, thanks in advance.

It's a where and when thing. 90-96 if my memory serves.
Nope ~88. it's in one of the newbie stickys but heres a link, http://www.brian894x4.com/V6headgasketrecall.html
Also one of the other forums, toyotanation maybe. had a service tech that would run peoples VIN. there is maybe one floating around the forum here, but you can allways just call up the dealership with your VIN.
Not sure whats up with the recall web site. but then i doesn't understand my VIN code anyway

Anyone who says the 3.0 is a ˟˟˟˟ty engine to work on has never worked on one. Read everyone saying how horrible they are, when I got mine I dreaded working on it. But that day came and damn...people really have no idea. It's definitely not the easiest to work on but not the worst, be thankful its not german :p
I recently replaced the head gaskets on my 3.0 and it wasn't that hard of a job at all. If you know how to turn a wrench and read a Haynes or Toyota FSM you can do it.
Give your Toyota dealership the VIN and see if the gaskets have been done or not. If they were never done by them im pretty sure they will still honour the recall. I've heard stories of people going in for the recall not to long ago and coming out with a brand new engine, depends what shape yours is in I guess.
Anyways good luck with the job if you end up doing it yourself!
