new knock sensor thread, Please look and give advice

I will start from the beginning.. got code 52 a while back, after countless hours of research i finally got the balls to change the wire going under the intake... got her all back together, and still code 52.. so i started checking out the other wire going back to the ecm.. noticed it looked nasty...so i got a new section of wire with the connector of another truck, soldered it up real good, taped her up real good, still code 52... So now i dont know what to do.. i really wanna rule everything else out before i blow $170 on a new sensor and have to rip it all apart yet again. i put an ohms tester on the wire i spliced.. read 3.29... definitely continuity... put it on the new wire goin to the sensor and i get no reading... should there be continuity to the sensor? is the reading stated above ok for the harness to ecu? I am running out of ideas here, i would figure there should be continuity to the sensor, but others have said the only way to test that is with an oscilliscope or something? So now i am lost.. should i just buy the sensor rip it all apart again, and hope it fixes my problem? or could i still have a bad connection? HELP.. im running out of beer and money

just checking but did you disconnect the battery to clear the CEL after replacing your wiring?

Also.. i was wondering.. is there a way to check that there is signal getting to the knock sensor..like using multi meter to check for power at the harness? at least if i know im getting power at the harness.. ill know it has to be the sensor....right? i know its only a millivolt circuit.. do i need a special tester for this.. or will a cheapo multimeter do the trick? i have been racking my brain on this for nearly 2 weeks now!!

no..i did not replace the sensor itself...just the $12 wire(i have been told over and over again that the sensor almost never fails)...im just not sure if there should be continuity to the sensor or not, if i can rule out the wiring as my problem...ill gladly get a new sensor...otherwise..i'd rather not spend the money on a sensor that cannot be returned

I don't believe there is a signal TO the knock sensor. The knock sensor generates a signal when it detects a knock. They do go bad.

There is also an early and later style knock sensor and harness

yes...sorry...the signal comes from the sensor..and i found out the hard way about the different styles for different years, i just cant figure out if there should be continuity between the connector and the sensor.. i would think there should be, but have not yet been able to confirm it.
