On the way home from work today i got a new noise. When driving (any gear) if I let off the gas I get a rattling noise from the rear of my truck (88 22re P/u). Kinda sounds like the heat shroud over the exuast manifold rattling except it's comming from the back. If I push the clutch in, it stops. I can't duplicate when stopped, so I'm waiting for my neighbor to come home from work to walk beside to see if he can hear where it's comming from. Any ideas on where to start?

aounds like my old story on when i was forced to run fwd!!! check your rear joints to see if there bad!! get under and shake it like that what its all about!!!

 

forgive me for being an idiot, but rear joints? do you mean where the drive shaft connects to the rear diff? or are you refering to something else. btw thanks for being my only response. I was begining to feel left out.

 

you interpreted his response correctly.

the noise you describe sounds like exhaust noise. check it all. get under there while your buddy revis it up real good. shake it all to hell. if thats the problem, you will find it easy.
