While currently restoring the exhaust on my 94 pickup, I have started considering the possibility of replacing the bumper / grille. I bought the truck after whatever incident caused this damage, though I recently tore off the grille after it starting to get in the way of the hood closing. It has been ten years and have always assumed that the fitment of new parts would be questionable considering whatever damage to the underlying elements they attach to. That is until my neighbor noticed the sorry state of a good truck without a grille and he pointed out a new bumper / grille most likely attach directly to the frame, which actually seems solid and not deformed. I priced the aftermarket parts and they seem to total bit more than $500 (53111-35080 [grille], 52101-35060 [bumper], 53911-35010 [valence], 53217-89108 [latch support]).
I have not looked entirely into where the bumper attaches exactly, though it might be worth disassembling the existing parts to find out. Has anyone else done this work of replacing these parts or would foresee any issues I might have fitting them? If this were your truck, would you see this work being worthwhile at least for restoring the resale value?
