New bumper, with after market blinkers having problems

put a new tube bumper on the front of my 89 PU used aftermarket blinkers that are smaller than stock although I rewired them and they work fine except sometimes the blinker goes really fast thinking there is a burnt out bulb and then goes back to normal blinking, I assume this is because the blinker is a lower voltage than stock. Anyone know a way to fix this?

add a second blinker light for each blinker, they could be inside the truck, or wherever and actually be that resistor. You couls have fun with it and put them on the hood like the 1960's trucks.
