Guys, I found a w56 tranny and TC, and am to go pick it up tomorrow. Any advice? It is out of the rolled truck, and the transmission and tc are still attached to one another. What do I look for? If it goes through all the gears nicely, is that a sign that the chances it is good increase a lot? I hear that the manual transmissions are somewhat bullet proof, and that I shuld be fine. Is this true? $200 is a great deal right? I am doing the auto to manual swap soon, so I think I should jump on it. Not nearly as knowledgable as most of you folks, and ask for your advice. Thank you!

 

I don't know the circumstances, but price sounds fair. check for cracks on the tcase, on the back side of the flanges. Like if you were to hit the flange with a sledge hammer trying to knock it threw the case, that is the back side [I] am talking a bout.
