Need lift and tire opinions
I've got an OEM solid front axle on my toyota truck with a 4 inch. lift currently. Since the lift kit is worn out and old, I was thinking about going with a 7" SkyJacker lift and putting on some 36/12.5-15 TSL/SX tires on a 15x8" rim with 4 inches of backspacing. Does anyone know if this will work or not and what can I expect? It's already geared for bigger tires.

Skyjacker sucks!
Look at Sky Manufactoring or Marlins.
Or go the cheap route and put stock rear springs in the front and 63" Chevy's out back.
You do not need 7" of lift for 36s.

I've got 4 inches of lift right now but it seems a bit too low to fit 36" tires. Why does SkyJacker suck? I've gotten steering stabilizers from them that looked to be awesome and tough quality.

Skyjacker springs aren't as flexible as some of the other options out there:
Trail Gear: http://trail-gear.com
All Pro: http://allprooffroad.com
Marlin: http://marlincrawler.com
...or go with what I'm doing, rear springs up front and chevies in the rear
Most guys are clearing the 36" Iroks with the 4" springs and some use the 5", but not much more lift than that. Gets a little too tippy. Might also make sure your wheels have enough backspacing to push the tires out farther for stability.

That's the truth. The kit on the truck now is crap. The leaf spring bushings are dry rotted and pushing out....along with the shock bushings It is an older kit but they didn't use poly bushings and the springs are way too stiff.
I'd like something around a 4 or 5 inch. lift. Where I go wheeling, there are a lot of rocks to climb but also mud pits so I'd like something that has awesome flex but will also be good in the mud.
I am going with 33/12.50-15 on a 15x8 rim with 4 inches of backspacing. Does that sound good?

Well, that is kinda cutting it close. Ideally it should be around 3.75" or less. I personally am going to run some custom MRT's with 2.5" backspace. Plenty of width to compensate for the added height. 4" BS or more and you chance interference with the tie-rod ends.

You should be able to fit 35x12.50s under your sas'd rig with 4-5" of lift. I would think a 3.5" bs'ing would work better, but there is a guy running stock rims, 35s, and sfa on here. I know that combo works and works good from his vids and pics.

I'm having a hard time finding rims that are less than 4 inches of backspacing; I thought that would be too much. There are some other brands but they cost too much considering they are only 15" rims. I have landcruiser rims (not sure what year) on my truck right now and the backspacing seems too deep and they are too close to everything in the front and the back, especially if I want to put a taller and wider tire on those rims. Where can I find a good deal on some not too expensive rims?

I was going to say the same thing to him. I'm sure you can find some on there that suit your needs. You can even search wheels in different ways ... even by backspacing. I say Summit firstt then maybe check some forums or ebay for listings of the same wheels at a good price.

Skyjacker rides like poop and the quality ain't great.
My lift when finished will be about 5" and I'll only have 33s for this, it's gonna be goofy
Don't forget the sawzall is your best friend.

I'm thinking about going with 33 inchers since it's my daily driver. That also means that the lift kit I choose probably shouldn't be too loose on the road. My 86' 4runner had excellent flex in the back, did well in the mud, the rocks and on the road. Decisions decisions, I just can't make up my mind.

These are the rims I think I'm going to go with. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Do all those lift kits require the 86-95 power steering gear box?
