Question Need Help - Oil Leak 1994 V6

1st Post
I have a 1994 Toyota Extended Cab 4X4 w/ the 3.0 V6. 5-Speed

PROBLEM – I have had an oil leak since I purchased this truck. Toyota head gasket recall done this past week included new valve cover gaskets and every other top engine seal, new rear main seal, and both seals replaced in the oil cooler housing? (middle left side of engine under exhaust header) but the truck is still loosing about 3 drops of oil a night. After degreasing, Pressure washing, and Drying the motor I was finally able to locate the small oil leak I have been having.

Strangest place, it is oozing out around the lock washer of the rear bolt that holds the stiffener plate for the (manual) transmission to the motor. I have not taken it apart yet but I was wondering if this was common and if so what is the fix?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have no clue. I thought that might have been the case or maybe the oil pan seal on the back side. I have not touched it though.

Just found the same stinking leak on mine. I believe that mine is coming from the oil cooler. Mine was just a few drops each day and now today, it is more like 3-5 drops per minute.

Hope that helps.

I've got a leak just like that... only slower dripping I think... Maybe someone will come up with an easy fix?

I pulled the bolt out Teflon taped that bad boy up and wala no more leak. Don't have a clue as to what caused it. I did find a smaller leak on the pan gasket and one from the front seal on the transmission that will have to wait for a Saturday that I am feeling energetic :-). I did call Bars Leak and they told me their engine stop leak additive was compatible with the manual transmission oil (I am running full synthetic AMSOIL). I put some of their stop leak in.................we will see if it stops the runny nose. Maybe I am lazy but I just pulled that tranny 3.5 weeks ago and I am not itching to do it again.

I had the same leak after I replaced my head gasket as well. My fix was to tighten it. No more leak. good luck!
