Need help cleanin the Diesel out of my 3vze
So yesterday me and my buddy made a cool rear shock hoop and when we dropped off some tools i had borrowed from my dad i decided to put a lil gas in the tank since i didnt think we would make it back to my house on fumes.
Turns out the gas can was full of DIESEL! I thought it was gas since it was in a gas can. Anyways i put like two gallons of diesel in the gas tank started the truck up and then it started runnin real bad so we shut of the truck and figured the gas was diesel.
I drained my gas tank but i'm not sure which line is the fuel line after the fuel pump. I wanna diconnect it so i can pump the diesel out of the lines before i try starting it, with some premium gasoline and maybe an additive to help clear the lines. The truck was running after the diesel was in it so i think if i clean out the tank and fuel lines she should start back up. Please advise me where the fuel line is after the fuel pump. Thanks. here is a pic of the mocked up shock hoop we were buildin.

I still wanna clean out the lines. Im pretty sure when the lines get full of diesel its not gonna run at all. So i need to clean as much diesel out as possible before starting it again.

I just thought that pulling a gas line would be easier than pullin the all the plugs. Its just a PITA doin plugs on the 3.0. I'll give it a go with out pulling a fuel line and new gas.

You don't need to pull the plugs or the fuel lines. Just fill the thing up with gas, and RUN IT. Sure it will smoke and run rough, but once you burn the diesel out, you will be fine. 2 gallons of diesel in a 17 gallon tank won't hurt anything, it will just run smokey. Besides, you already drained the diesel out, so all you have left is a little residual in the lines and a minute amount in the tank. Fill the tank with gas, and run the hell out of it. That simple.

Like said, since you've drained all you can, that's enough. Fill it up and maybe add some cleaner- seafoam, berrymans or something similar, to the tank and run it near empty, repeat once or twice.
In the past, I've added a little diesel to the gas tank (no more than a quart per tank) to help clean carburetors and injectors. I've even added some ATF a couple times without issues. Does the same thing as seafoam, etc. and gallon-for-gallon is cheaper than seafoam (the diesel, not the ATF). Just don't do it too often, every 25k miles is enough, because of the poisoning of the converter and O2 sensor that it can cause.

My GF took the truck through DEQ today and it failed miserably. 1400 hydrocarbons is what the test said, and its only allowed 220 hydrocarbons. I'm guessin its because of the diesel still in the tank so now im just gonna run a couple tanks of gas through it maybe some SEAFOAM and try it again in a couple weeks
