hey guys,
I bought an 89 runner with a grenaded 3rd member, i managed to find a whole rear diff for 100 bucks and threw it in. im having problems with bleeding the brakes. The lspv is bled (at the bleed valve) and isnt bubbling at all, but the brakeline coming out of the lspv and going to the rear brakes is full of air and wont bleed out....but the lspv is bled. Maybe the lspv is pulling in air? im stumped. thanks!

 

Keep on bleeding and bleeding. Don't let that master cylinder run dry.
Are the wheel cylinders on the replacement axle any good?

 

yea just keep bleeding and see what happens..

it took a bottle of brake fluid about 12in tall before mine were bled all the way..

of course i feel mine need to be bled again...for some reason i just got a feelin that that will solve my brake problems (feels like i have NO rear brakes AT ALL)..

 

well im good at brakes i know that
heres what i do buy a tube of electric grease and dab it around the bleeder screw
i have some filling the master cyl with a bottle of fluid never let it run dry and i have a vaccum sucker at the bleed screw ALWAYS THIS COMBO right rear left rear
right front left front
i have a vacula bleeder cost me 110 $ on line best thing i ever bought its like 15 years old now saved me 100$ of bucks the bubbles will go away once the fluid goes clear you know your sucking good clean fluid lock the bleeder screw wipe it and do the next one

 

ditto on the vac bleeder. Just make sure you did not loose your prime on the master. If the bowl ever went empty, you probably did. You would need to "bench bleed" it with tubes from the outlets dumping back into the bowl. Or hold your thumbs over the outlets until you get good pressure, then while the pedal is to the floor, hook the lines up to the master.

 

yeah, when i left i took the rear end out i disconnected the softline from the hardline that comes out of the lspv, and it sat for a day. could air bubbles travel up and past the lspv and pretty much into the mc? also i put 2" blocks in the rear when i installed the rear end because it was sagged out so much. i guess maybe the lspv might need to be adjusted? thanks so much for the input!

 

thanks desertcamper 67, after inspecting the cylinders again i found that the right rear is leaking. well i flushed the whole system and bled the mc, now after throwing in some wheel cylinders hopefully this thing will be rockin' soon! thanks.
