I'm looking into the ISR mod and/or a K&N FIPK air intake for my 3vze.

In the install manual for the K&N FIPK kit it has you reconnect the resonator box and its two hoses. What I'd like to know is what exactly is this box for and what do the two hoses connect to?

I think the resonator box is just a silencer for the intake... one of the hoses connects to the top of the stock intake...

Is there any vacuum or positive pressure in these hoses?
How would I go about installing the K&N FIPK intake without the resonator, or is it a required part of the intake?
