So, while trying to troubleshoot my no start issue with my 89 4runner 3vze I found this mystery wire poking out of the harness where the dizzy wires come out. It is braided around the dizzy wires then comes to a bundle like maybe it used to be connected to something. Ground wire? Insulation?

 

Knock sensor wire?

 

No. I found out it is shielding for the dizzy wires.

 

Yeap, it is the shielding.
Make sure it doesn't ground to anything on this end.
