Hey Matt... The truck looks great! The flat black is going to look mean. I like it as I lean more towards the utilitarian look also. I did a ton of research on lifts and tires when I bought my 4runner and decide to go with cranking the t-bars and a superlift kit on the front. I had to use a little heat on the nuts because they were rusted up pretty good, but they eventually came off. At the time, I found a some sway aways for a pretty good price so I stuck those on and played with them until I got the lift I wanted. I don't think the ride is rough.... It's a little bouncy, but that's how I like it. Keep up the good work.... This is gonna be fun to watch.

I'm not sure how that roll bar is put together but if it uses rivets or bolts. I suggest welding the tubes together.
It took me ages to find proper sized rivets and big enough rivet gun. Then a month or so later, the roll bar just rattled constantly with every bump. The rivet wore out. Save yourself the hassle and weld it up.

I will keep that in mind about the roll bar. Been working hard on getting this truck back on the road. Everything is painted except for the hood. The old rattle can paint job came out pretty good. My son has been working hard on rolling on the Herculiner. It came out great! He picked himself up some new tires. A set of Firestone Destination MT's with about 80% tread left for $225 mounted and balanced. Found them on Craigslist and they ride great. Picked up some Toyota bucket seats off Craigslist for $40 and swapped out the bench seat. Looks much cleaner and sits a lot better. Went ahead and cranked up the torsion bars and we will see how that does for now for a slight lift. Next is getting the roll bar painted and start working on welding up a new custom front bumper. I know he is getting excited. He gets his license in a week!

Little more progress today. Got the rest of the truck painted, roll bar painted and installed and a couple of the rims painted. The black rims looks much better than the chrome. Check the pics and see the difference in the rims.

Truck looks awesome. Great to see a father taking the time to teach his son. To many people just haul a tiny issue to a shop and dont have a idea how to do anything themself. My dad taught me a few things but not as indept as you 2 have gone. Great work guys.

Another good day and hard day of work. Got the front grill painted and put back on. Got the roll bar all bolted down and the light's mounted up, wired and working. The rest of the rim's are painted and back on the truck. Worked on painting the interior jambs to match the exterior. Little odd's and in's to mess with and a custom front bumper to build to finish it all up. All in all for a $1400 truck it has come out pretty good. My son is pretty excited. He take's his test on Thursday to get his license.
