Don't Forget to Get A Wheel Bearing kit As Well. Most Knuckle rebuild Kits Only Come With The Trunion Bearings For The knuckles And Misc. Components For Just The Knuckles. Wheel Bearings Are Pretty Important To Replace If Your Going To Drive That Beast On The Road As Well As Off.

Good point 4dees..make sure you get OEM bearings....Koyo and NSK only...these are typically included in the nicer SAS kits like Marlin or All pro....

They may cost more but they will last much longer

Whatever you do avoid Trail gear bearings like the plague.....I wouldnt wish those things on my worst enemy..maybe for some trail "spares" thats about it

Yes, That Is A Stock Truss You Have. But Judging by The First Pics You Posted You Aquired The Better Of The Two types Of Solid front Axles. Great Score For $50.

And You Will See Those Bugger Welds on All Toyota Axles.

I think the "F" means that it failed the quality control test at the plant and you should throw it out

I'll take it off your hands!

Every Toyota casting I've seen has those booger welds on it. They're ugly, but they're factory ugly!

NO you cannot bolt an IFS section into a solid axle housing...

There are 3 styles of axles, earlier had no trusses.... 79-83 had a truss from on the bottom half way to the knuckle, the 84-85 has a full truss on the bottom. That is the only difference. Some people actually prefer the older style axles with no gusset for the extra ½" ground clearance under the tube

That's Correct! They Each Have Their Pros And Cons. The Early Axle May Have That Extra 1/2 Inch, But You Can NOT Switch The Rotors To the Prefered (And Larger) FJ-80 Rotors. And Are Also Slightly More Prone To Bending. So Even Though The 84-85 Axles Do Not Have That Extra 1/2 Inch Clearance, You CAN Swap Over To FJ-80 Rotors And You Will Have A Full Truss On The Bottom Of The Axle. Either One Works Fine. My Personal Preferance Would Be The 84-85. Which It Seems Like Thats What You Might Have, Need To See Cleaner Pics Though.
