i drove her today trying to brake them off i was drifting on dry roads hitting every pothole ion town even went a lil off roading at miller park and not even a bend or rear sway or anything they still are soild and strong so i think ill keep them but yes i will be welding and or drilling and bolting something all the way down the whole though maybe ill just weld something in there what i can find laying around the house problem is though i only have my 110v welder dont thing it will be big enough to weld it

on the lighter side each side of the shackle was 4-5 pounds and really strong

the length of the shackles, and the play in your bushings will let your rear axle shift at least an inch side-to-side. not a safe thing to be having.

I don't know the cost of the coil springs that people are buying for the coil "ad in". But it seems to me by the time you buy new coils and do whatever fab work you decide to do, to hold them in there, you could get a new set of leaf springs and correct the rear end sag the right way. I corrected my sag VIA shackles, but plan on puting new leaves in very soon. I can see how the Coils would improve load capacity, but I have no clue how they improve ride and I definately don't see them doing anything for off road performance. Just my 2 cents.

Also something else to consider fabing up would be a set of flex shackles. I recall JT Outfitters (which started as a FJ40 speciality shop) sold a lot of their "Hyper shackles". Their site was out of stock but here is a guy who had them installed. You could fab them so you have a higher than normal ride high but then extended another 2 inches when your wheel drops in a hole to keep ground contact....just a thought. But your ride height does look better.

It looks like the one on the center side of the left is already starting to bend.

Dual shackles spell death on the roads... They're great on a trailered off-road only rig, but it's not a good idea on a daily driver to install a set like that.

Mickey Mouse would be ashamed of this set up.
Do yourself a favor and take corners slowly until you get something more solid back there.
I don't care how heavy they feel, they aren't thick enough for their length. Leverage=bend or snap.

i thought adding shackles wouldn't get the leafs off of the overloads????

but in your pics of your runner just sittin on the ground..yours are easily a few inches off the overload springs?????

did you notice a better ride???
