My 86 4Runner (56k death)
This is my 2nd post here, so let me introduce myself. My name is Mike, I live on Long Island (NY) and I am Toyota nut. I work at Yota dealer as a wrench and I currently own a 02 Taco (my mall crawler) and this here is my 86 4Runner.
I bought the truck from the original owner, the women loved the truck so much that she had a legit 21 1st birthday party...like a real party...no joke...I have a "thank you" from it and there was like 30+ people at it...When we left with it on the trailer she was crying.
This is what it looked like when I got it...for 900$ it was in real good shape..especially for an east coast truck
I took it to work, and cut off all the crappy smitty tube bumpers
One of my buddies there borrowed the tires off of it and left it on jack stands over the weekend in a rocket ship position and when I came in on monday to take it down and get it out of the shop it was actually knocking from the valve stem seals leaking down so bad into the back cylinder So I knew if I wanted this thing to be trail worthy and road worthy I would have to rebuild it...
I tore it ALL apart, took all my measurements and rebuilt the entire thing with all new parts from Toyota
While it was apart, I yanked the block out and put a new clutch set up in it
I then built it all back up on the stand
and dropped it all back in
After I got that all squared away I put it on the road and bought a canback for it from Soft topper
After that, I ordered 2 new front fenders and my step father and I laid out a paint scheme for it
Painted up
I havent hit the trails since, just the beach for now...until I get my snorkel...
In the mean time, I dumped 3 of RC rock crawlers last week for a total of 2800$ and have picked up an 85 front axle from a friend
It has 4.88 yukons in it, ARB air locker, I have a new set of Bobby Longs birfields for it and I basically just need to finish assembling it
I ordered the kit from Trail-Gear tonight for the front, need to save for the rear, and this just showed up today from Marlin
Sliders should be here next week
Hope you guys like my truck, plan on doing some reading and cruising for the forum here.
Thanks for looking
-Mike

I havent taken it back to show her yet, she is about 45 minutes west of me but I did email her daughter some pics of it (the daughter was the one who listed it on craigslist). She said he mother was real happy with what I was doing with it.
She was really nuts about the truck, she told me the day before I came to buy it some other dude came to buy it and she told her husband she wasnt selling it to him because she knew he wouldnt take care if it.
More updates soon, Im going to try to get the bumper painted tomorrow on my lunch break and maybe ill be able to get installed at the end of day.
Thanks for all the positive feedback

Yes the shop space is great, and my tool collection continues to grow constantly. Yeah my stepdad is a corrections officer, so is my mother, and 2 uncles. Father is a detective sgt...law enforcement runs in the entire family on both sides. They are cool with it, my stepdad is into my rig and helps me a lot with it. My mother had an 06 Taco on 35s until yesterday when she lost control of it in a snow storm here and rolled it 1.5x...but that is whole different story
Not much to update on the 4runner, but I did get my Snorkel
the plumbing, have to paint it all black, to cold here to do it now
Axle isnt in yet because one of the birfields is F'd...which sucks big time because I can't afford another set right now. My stepdad's friend is going to try and machine to fix it for me otherwise I might see what Marlin says...
As of right now I have the entire SA kit for the front and rear, all I need is tires and gears/locker for the rear... I am thinking of going with the Good year kevlars or Mickeys (claws.

She is very lucky, no long lasting injuries...she is bruised and has a good bump on the head but she will be OK.
I do here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...ght=Atomic+toy
Its based off of the"Atomic Toy"
See above...not gonna make it a trail rig...has full coverage so I am sure the insurance company will be taking it...plus the roof is totally compromised
