The 4wd in that truck if its auto locking hubs just works with the t-case and hubs them selves. The t-case is shifted by "you" inside the truck and it is 4wd and as the t-case turns the the driveshaft, down to the front diff and then the axles the auto lockers work on a racheting affect and thats why you go in reverse on those old auto hubs theres no 4wd. Manual hubs are locked either on all the time no matter what or off all the time. You just have to get out an turn em
